Advantages of Modular Offsite Construction

  • Factory manufacture reduces delays due to on-site conditions like weather, ensuring a more dependable project programme
  • Factory conditions ensure a higher quality product; trade workers operate in a comfortable environment where modules can be closely assesssed throughout the construction process.
  • Waste and rework is minimised. Material supplies are easier to control and shield from the weather.
  • Manufacture of the rooms or modules can take place while foundations and other preparations are completed on site, significantly speeding up the whole build process
  • Delivery and installation of modules can be very quick, reducing the appearance of construction on the site
  • Modular buildings are easier to expand and can be relocated.

Modular construction uses prefabricated modules manufactured in a factory environment which are transported to site and connected together to form a complete building. This method of construction is flexible and has many advantages over traditional techniques.

A prefabricated module can complete a whole building, it is all about size and appearance. Buildings range from a garden shed to a multi storey hotel or housing block.
  • Modular buildings are not temporary buildings, although some can be moved and reused; this method of construction does lend itself to temporary or relocatable buildings. However, modular buildings can also be built to last and if maintained correctly, you can expect building to last for over 60 years.
  • Modular buildings are not low quality. Buildings made in a controlled factory environment will generally be of a higher quality than a unit built on site.
  • Modular buildings are not necessarily unattractive boxes. There is a wide array of options that you can choose from to improve the appearance of these buildings. Real brick and timber cladding, as well as render are just three options that can be used and combined to your requirements. We can provide pitched tiled roofs to produce a totally traditional appearance or contemporary flat roof styles.
  • Building layouts and interiors are fully customisable.
  • Modular buildings don’t mean small rooms. It is simple to create large, open plan rooms using modular construction. These rooms are not just limited to offices, spaces like classrooms, hotels and sports halls are all possible.

Depending on your chosen standards and environment modular buildings are built to meet the same regulations as traditional buildings, and can therefore be held to the same standard of quality, appearance and permanence.
